HES-SO Valais-Wallis School of Engineering Open Day is in few weeks

Visitors discover an engineering demonstration during a School of Engineering open day

On Saturday, 21 November 2026, the HES-SO Valais-Wallis School of Engineering will welcome visitors to Campus Energypolis in Sion. The open day provides an opportunity to explore its study programmes, facilities and applied approach to engineering.

Discover engineering education in practice

From 9:00 to 17:00, prospective students, families and other interested visitors will be able to explore the different fields taught at the School of Engineering.

Presentations, demonstrations and discussions with teaching teams will offer a closer look at the programmes, the campus infrastructure and the projects developed by students.

The open day covers several engineering disciplines, including Life Sciences Engineering, industrial systems, energy and environmental engineering, and computer science and communication systems.

Explore Life Sciences Engineering

Two information sessions on the Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences Engineering will take place at 10:00 and 14:00.

The programme combines scientific foundations with practical laboratory work, applied projects and industrially relevant skills. Students can choose from four specialisations:

  • Biotechnology
  • Analytical and bioanalytical chemistry
  • Food technology and biotechnology
  • Digital Life Sciences

These pathways reflect a broadening range of professional profiles across biotechnology, bioproduction, analytics, food technology and data-driven Life Sciences.

The Digital Life Sciences specialisation, for example, connects biological and chemical knowledge with data science, modelling, automation and artificial intelligence. A recent BioArk article examines the skills associated with this emerging profile.

Training connected to the Valais industrial environment

Technical education and applied research form part of the capabilities supporting the Valais Life Sciences ecosystem.

The HES-SO Valais-Wallis contributes to this environment by training engineers and developing applied expertise connected to regional research and industry. Its programmes help prepare students for work across laboratories, production environments, process development and multidisciplinary technical teams.

This educational pathway sits within a wider regional landscape extending from early scientific discovery and vocational education to higher education, continuing training, research and industrialisation. Explore the Life Sciences education and training pathway in Valais.
