A recent workshop at the BioArk Monthey technology site saw Seed Up, in coordination with The Ark incubator, deliver specialized funding training to a select group of Ark start-ups. Six innovative young companies benefited from this focused workshop, designed to help them master the critical legal and financial issues for their development.
The Seed Up team led the day, addressing essential topics:
-
Choice of legal structure (SARL vs SA): Advantages and disadvantages of each form, and the importance of anticipating future funding needs.
-
Governance and shareholder agreement: How to organize relationships between partners to avoid conflicts and ensure efficient management.
-
Overview of available funding: From grants to convertible loans, to equity financing rounds, participants discovered different options to finance their growth.
-
Preparing for a funding round: Building a “data room”, valuing the company, and investor relations.
-
Growth and exit strategy: How to envision the future and prepare for the next steps.
A Practical and Concrete Workshop
Participants particularly appreciated the practical and concrete aspect of the training. Concrete examples, personalized advice and directly applicable tools were provided to them. The emphasis was on the importance of careful preparation prior to any financing approach. A legally and financially well-structured start-up is much more attractive to potential investors.
