The past week has been a landmark occasion for the Monthey startup REM Analytics, as they were selected to present their cutting-edge Advanced Testing for Genetic Composition technology platform on stage at the major Probiota 2024 congress. Discover this innovative nugget and its technology !
First of all, a few words about REM Analytics. Based on the technological site of Monthey, REM Analytics develops, sells and performs microbiome tests. REM is using Advanced Testing for Genetic Composition (ATGC) technological platform. They design tests for any microbiome target, which can work in any microbiome niche or matrix such as human gut, vagina, mouth, fermented foods, mixed probiotics etc.

ATGC Technology: stop standardized measurements and generic tests!
Realizing that there was a gap between measurement tools in the microbiome sector, we changed the application of our technology for mitochondrial mutations to build measurement tools that would be quantitative for the microbiome.
“Our ATGC platform enables the creation of tailor-made tests for different microbiome targets, including bacteria, fungi and archaea,” explains the start-up founder and CEO Paulo Refinetti.
Paulo Refinetti adds that “The scientific community remains reluctant to move from next-generation sequencing to more specialized tests, focusing on specific microbiome targets. We are convinced that ‘Trust is good, but a test is better’. Indeed, consumer confidence in microbiome products, from probiotics to analytical services, is often undermined by inconsistencies and the absence of standardized measurements.”

These innovations were presented at a panel dedicated to pioneers in the field at Probiota 2024. Paulo Refinetti adds “We were delighted to be considered as probiotic pioneers among other wonderful colleagues. We were also able to present our latest breakthrough, BifidoZOOM: a new gut microbiome screening tool designed to revolutionize the way we understand and interact with our internal ecosystems. The concept was developed in collaboration with our partners at PROBIOTICAL S.P.A., Marco Pane, Vera Mogna and team. ”
