DePoly Breaks Ground on Its First Revolutionary Plastic Recycling Plant in Monthey

Swiss CleanTech startup DePoly, supported by The Ark Foundation, has begun construction of its groundbreaking Showcase Plant in Monthey, marking a significant milestone in sustainable plastic recycling and reinforcing the region’s position as a hub for innovative technologies.

A Leap Forward in Plastic Recycling
DePoly’s new facility, located at the CIMO site in Monthey, will be Switzerland’s first plastic monomer recycling plant. With an annual capacity of 500 tons, the plant will transform unsorted, untreated PET and polyester waste into high-quality raw materials, significantly reducing the need for oil-based plastic production.

Boosting Local Economy and Sustainability
The Showcase Plant is set to create up to 30 direct and indirect jobs in the region, further solidifying Monthey’s reputation as a key player in the Health Valley. This 1,500-square-meter facility demonstrates the area’s attractiveness to innovative companies and its commitment to sustainable industrial development.

A Strategic Choice for Innovation
Helge Huerkamp, Director of CIMO Compagnie industrielle de Monthey SA, highlighted the site’s appeal: “Thanks to its infrastructure, the site offers attractive advantages for many companies, and it was these advantages that motivated DePoly to approach the site representatives to present its expansion plans. We look forward to welcoming this company to their new building in Monthey.

A Global Impact from Swiss Soil
As a blueprint for future commercial plants worldwide, the Monthey facility positions Switzerland at the forefront of circular economy solutions. DePoly’s technology offers industries such as apparel, food, and automotive a low-environmental-impact recycling option, contributing to global efforts in reducing plastic waste and fossil fuel dependence.
