Founded in 1997, Compagnie industrielle de Monthey SA (CIMO) operates as a central infrastructure and industrial services provider for the Monthey chemical site. With more than 450 employees across 80 professions, the company supports complex industrial operations through energy production, environmental management, engineering, safety and maintenance services.
CIMO’s model is based on concentration of expertise within a single structure.
The company manages critical infrastructure, ensures operational continuity, and supports industrial performance across the full lifecycle of installations — from engineering and construction to maintenance and modernization.
Its teams operate in electrical and mechanical engineering, CAD support, inspection, piping, steelwork, insulation and automation, serving both the Monthey site and selected third-party clients in Switzerland and abroad.
Environmental management and waste treatment
CIMO operates advanced facilities for the treatment and recovery of industrial waste streams.
Liquid waste is processed through incineration, oxidation or biological treatment. The wastewater treatment plant, equipped with a sludge incineration furnace, handles biodegradable industrial effluents before authorized discharge into the Rhône.
Continuous environmental monitoring ensures compliance with Swiss regulations, including OPair and OEaux.
The laboratory provides sampling, analysis and certified reporting, supported by real-time measurement systems for air, water and soil monitoring.
Safety, occupational health and energy supply
CIMO hosts the only professional fire brigade corps in Valais officially recognized by the Swiss Association of Professional Fire Brigades (ASSPP). Fire risk training, ABC risk preparedness, equipment control and emergency response are integrated within the site’s safety framework.
The occupational health service specializes in workplace medicine in industrial environments.
In parallel, CIMO ensures energy production and distribution for the Monthey industrial platform, supporting process reliability and operational continuity.
